KFC/Taco Bell closed after employee tests positive

TODD VANDONK

The KFC and Taco Bell restaurant at the corner of Lansdowne Street West and Monaghan Road in Peterborough has been closed due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19.

On Friday, those looking for a bucket of chicken or tacos were met with a “temporary closed,” sign at the drive-thru and main doors.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you,” the sign read.

According to Narrative, the public relations agency for KFC Canada, the restaurant has been closed since Wednesday after management was made aware of a positive test.

Out of privacy for its employees, KFC Canada didn’t disclose the number of employees possibly exposed to the virus.

“The health and well-being of our team members and customers is our No. 1 priority,” the KFC Canada statement read.

“As soon as we were notified, the restaurant was immediately closed out of an abundance of caution and all exposed employees were asked to self-isolate.”

The restaurant will reopen under local health authority guidance.
