KENNETH CLIFFORD CHAPMAN

(April 16, 1955 - May 6, 2020) CATHERINE LYNN CHAPMAN (nee Curtis) (February 5, 1959 - January 30, 2021)

Ken passed away on May 6, 2020, a few days after he learned that his wife, best friend and soul mate, Catherine had terminal cancer. Those that knew him, believe that he died of a broken heart as he just could not imagine a life without Catherine in it.

Cancer claimed Catherine's life in the early morning hours of January 30, 2021. She faced the disease with courage, hope and a strong desire to live each day to its fullest.

Ken and Catherine had a relationship that most of us only dream of experiencing. While their life together was filled with challenges, they made the best of every moment. They loved their getaways and it didn't matter if it was travelling to the Caribbean or California, a scenic road trip to a local destination or their favourite camping locations. Ken certainly enjoyed his music and was a devoted fan of the Rolling Stones - Catherine understood his passion even if she didn't completely share his enthusiasm. Ken loved to read and always had a book on his lap. Catherine, on the other hand, was an avid crafter and knitting was her passion. One could hear her knitting needles clacking, right up to the last weeks of her life.

Ken and Catherine had many friends, too numerous to name, but the shared times were of utmost importance to both of them. They deeply valued these friendships and moments.

They will be forever missed by their families; Ken's father, Edward (Ted) Chapman (Carolyn), his sisters Linda Gallant-West (Chris West) and Sandy Kozak, niece and nephew Caroline Gallant and Aleksei Kozak, Catherine's sisters; Debbie McNaught (Steve), Janet Reedyk, niece and nephews; Samantha, Jeremy, Keegan and Nathan. Ken and Catherine will be lovingly remembered by their extended family and dear friends. Ken was predeceased by his mother, Barbara Donovan (Grills) and Catherine by her parents, Bert and June Curtis.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Nucleus Housing (Toronto) for providing many years of care and support to Ken and to the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice (Ottawa) for caring for Catherine. A private celebration of their lives will take place in the future.
