Stillman scores first NHL goal

Peterborough’s Riley Stillman scored his first National Hockey League goal Thursday night in a 2-1 Chicago Blackhawks victory over the Carolina Hurricanes, one of his dad Cory’s former teams. The goal happened on the same night his younger brother Chase won a gold medal with Canada’s under-18 team at the IIHF championship. The defenceman, who played for the Oshawa Generals and Hamilton Bulldogs in the Ontario Hockey League, had only had assists in appearances over three seasons with the Florida Panthers before being traded earlier this year. “It was huge,” Stillman told reporters after the big game. “I had a couple opportunities earlier in the game and I’ve had opportunities in the past but it was big to get that first one out of the way,” he added.
