The Peterborough Examiner e-edition

Law banning intimidation is open to abuse

Re: Criminal charges warranted if anti-vaxxers don’t change their ways, Jan. 19

Naiveté saturates the editor’s discussion of the latest statutory salvo from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau against anyone who disagrees with him. We now have legislation that makes illegal any activity that a health-care worker decides causes fear. Anyone who cannot see the abuses to which subjectivity of this kind is vulnerable has no business editing a newspaper.

The description he uses of the protesters (which is contradicted by the picture of them) exactly aligns with Antifa tactics, but I’m not aware of the editor’s condemnation of those extremists. Perhaps this inconsistency has something to do with their inability to distinguish between “anti-vaxxers” and people who insist on bodily autonomy.
