Sexual assault trial set for June

Ray Henderson, a former mainstay in Peterborough’s theatre scene, will have his day in court next month. Henderson, 48 at the time of his arrest in July 2020, is accused of sexually assaulting a girl under 18. In June 2020, city police reported they received allegations about an historical sexual assault dating back several years. Henderson was charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation. At the time of his arrest, police said Henderson was in a position of trust to the girl leading up to and during the offenc- es. On Wednesday, Henderson’s case was addressed in the Ontario Court of Justice for a trial confir- mation hearing. His judge-alone trial is slated to start June 27 and is scheduled to last three days. Hen- derson was the former head of Pe- terborough’s Arbor Theatre. He was known as a director, play- wright, and improv comic with Ci- tiots. He also taught improv at Fleming College.
