Damage is estimated at $75,000 after a house fire Thursday afternoon on Brunswick Avenue in Peterborough.

A large plume of smoke was visible in the city’s west end around 3:38 p.m. after a garage and a vehicle in it went up in flames.

The fire then spread to a house on one side of the garage and also caused exposure damage to the house on the other side of the garage while another vehicle in front of the garage received exposure damage as well, according to Platoon Chief Don Broersma.

One occupant was treated by paramedics for burns and taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for further treatment before being released.

A section of Brunswick Avenue, off of High Street was closed while city firefighters knocked down the fire in the garage, the houses and the vehicles.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
