Fairhaven hires new director
Nancy Rooney has been hired as the new executive director of Fairhaven long-term-care home and will be starting the job on Tuesday, the home’s committee of management has announced. Rooney will replace Lionel Towns, who resigned in May to spend more time with family; Towns said then he would remain on the job until a replacement could be hired. Rooney has worked for Extendicare, overseeing nine homes in the company’s central east region and has also worked as administrator of the 192-bed Extendicare Rouge Valley long-term-care home in Scarborough. Fairhaven is a 256-bed municipally run long-term-care home on Dutton Road in the north end of Peterborough. It is jointly owned by Peterborough city and county.
