Arrest made in drug overdose
A 27-year-old Peterborough man was arrested following a police investigation into a sudden overdose death in October. Officers were called to a sudden death in October and through investigation determined who supplied the drugs, police said. On Tuesday, city police investigators and heavily armed emergency response team officers used a search warrant at a Peterborough home and made an arrest, police said. During the search, officers located a loaded handgun, drugs and cash, police said. Jameel Jackson, 27, of Peterborough was charged with possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, trafficking in fentanyl, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000 He was held in custody and appeared in court Wednesday. City police said they released his name as a matter of public safety.
