Watson named 2022 Archer of the Year

Dustin Watson has been named the U21 men’s compound bow 2022 Archer of the Year by World Archery Americas. The Lakefield native defeated Slovenia’s Tim Jevsnik in a one arrow shoot-off after tying 6666 to win the World Field Archery U21 men’s compound bow gold medal in Yankton, S.D., last fall. Watson, 17, is the first Canadian to ever win an U21 world field archery title and it was Canada’s first medal at the worlds since 1984. He was the lone Canadian recognized by World Archery Americas in its annual awards announced Tuesday.
